County office: Treasurer Tax-Collector

No county links are recorded for this county yet, so this card shows the state’s statutory framework only. The county office itself is the place to ask.

If it is your own property

In many states the property can be redeemed by paying what is owed — in some states even after a sale — and payment plans may be available. The rules and the deadlines are set by statute and they are short: consult the statute and the county office named here about where you actually stand.

The sale, stage by stage

Tax-defaulted property sale

California statute authorizes the county tax collector to sell tax-defaulted property itself at public auction once the statutory default period has run (Rev. & Tax. Code §§ 3691, 3692). An owner’s right to redeem typically ends as the sale begins (§ 3707) — which is why acting before the sale matters most.

No official county link is recorded here for this stage. The office to ask is generally the County Tax Collector (commonly titled Treasurer-Tax Collector) in California.

Everything above links out to the government source; the county’s own page is the current word.
